Eurotoire: Equaliser (EU:EQ) is a capacity-building programme and songwriting and production camp matching emerging artists of underrepresented genders from underrepresented regions in Europe with emerging music media professionals.
Meet the 2022 - 2023 team by clicking on their profiles above.
Participating producer-songwriters will release and promote an album written and produced collaboratively, while participating music media professionals will publish and disseminate news stories and media to diversify the music industry’s tastemaking and curation. EU:EQ focuses on directly creating professional networks for artists of underrepresented gender from European countries which either before or during the pandemic suffer from low music support architectures such as minimal or no governmental music export funding opportunities. Participants will benefit from cross-cultural collaboration to empower all participants with a network to access beyond the project and celebrate what diverse European repertoire truly sounds like.
EU:EQ builds off the co-creative sessions that took place during Eurotoire's pilot programme in 2021 - 2022 and which resulted in the collaborative album "On A Red Thursday".
On A Red Thursday: A musical journey uniting complete strangers across borders to let creativity lead the way
In a songwriting programme piloted by Cypriot label, Louvana Records called Eurotoire (December 2020 - February 2022), songwriters, producers, and session musicians from ten countries were invited to gather in Cyprus to test their limits, trust strangers, and allow their artistry to merge. Their initial week-long meeting began on a Thursday in June at Studio eleven63 in the island’s capital of Nicosia and blossomed into fifteen demos. After another two writing and recording sessions in July and September, the tracks bloomed into the Eurotoire team members’ fully-fledged album. Now they’re using On A Red Thursday to spread the word about the power of surrendering to creative instinct and collaborating with the unknown.
Eurotoire is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission and organised by Louvana Records, creators of Fengaros Festival and Fengaros Music Village, in collaboration with Studio eleven63.
