MEMA. (Portugal)
Born in Aveiro, MEMA. explores traditional sounds, blending them into electronic pop with folky tones and a salty taste. Her first works, released in 2020, were highlighted on national radio and her debut EP was described by Time Out magazine as “a small but monumental record,” and included in their best albums of 2020. In 2021-2022, MEMA. performed in multiple festivals and was a contestant in Festival da Canção (a festival that picks the Portuguese entry for the Eurovision Song Contest). Finally, in 2023, she released her debut album, Leve♀Escuro (Light♀Dark) - a work predominantly created by women, produced by herself, and featuring mixing by Ruby Smith (Fletcher, Nicki Minaj) and mastering by Katie Tavini (Sega Bodega, Mykki Blanco, Emeli Sandé). The album was presented live in April at Musicbox (Lisbon, PT) and Teatro Aveirense (Aveiro, PT).
