Michalis Karakatsanis (Cyprus)
Michalis Karakatsanis currently works at the Organisation for European Programmes and Cultural Relations as the administrator of Cyprus Music Information Centre, a development program with the aim of promoting and encouraging development, internationalization and appreciation of music created by Cypriot composers and musicians. Michalis holds an M.A. in Arts Management from the Cultural Policy and Management Department of the City University, London, while he also earned his B.A. on Music Studies from the University of Athens. He has served on the boards of the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC) and the European Music Council (EMC). Some of his research interests include the discourses on the legitimization and the future of cultural policies in a globalized world, issues of copyrights in the digital era and the political economy of music and cultural industries in general. In parallel, Michalis Karakatsanis is an active musician.
