Suse Ribeiro (Portugal)
Musician, sound designer, and music producer based in Lisbon and Brussels, Suse has studied percussion, orchestral direction, film scoring, and music production. Her career started in classical music, playing in orchestras for several years and collaborating with conductors such as Reinbert de Leeuw, Marc Tardue, Michael Zilm, and Peter Rundel. Currently, she works as a music producer and recording engineer, both in studio and live shows, collaborating frequently with artists and projects like João Onofre, Ictus Ensemble, Remix Ensemble, Drumming GP, Companhia Olga Roriz, Rosas Dance Company, Graindelavoix, Warpaint, Cat Power, Mark Lanegan, and Peter Murphy. In the studio, she has worked with producers Tony Visconti (Kingston, UK) and Nigel Godrich (Camden, UK).
In 2021, Suse arranged and directed the ensemble for the Circus band at Coliseu (Porto). Suse is also the technical director for several music festivals in Portugal, including Jazz em Monserrate, F. Música d’ Ponte, F. Giacometti, Loures Jazz, and O Jazz tem Voz. Additionally, she is a teacher at ESAD’s Master in Sound Arts. As the founder of the label 'Atmus,' she currently works with spatial audio as a tool for artistic performance, exploring sound design with Ambisonics and Dolby Atmos. In her role as a musician, Suse is involved in various contemporary projects of electronic music and electroacoustics.
